BIO of the Month June 2026

Hello there, I’m Audi Brandon, AKA “Wiggles”, AKA “The Princess”.

I can find birds with the best of them.  I’ll work a field like a 90 MPH Sherlock Holmes, but ever since I got promoted to Shooter I’m having trouble getting on the podium.  Too many dumb rules!  “Dog is steady to flush, AND shot, AND fall, AND release?”  “Bird is retrieved ALL the way to hand?”  Gimme a break!  Where’s my points for drive, speed and style?  Hunting is what I live for, but in my downtime I have rules of my own: Plenty of attention. Meals on time! Warm temperatures. Leave my feet alone! No pestering from Mom’s dog the brat-a-doodle.

See you at the next trial!

Axel

Hello, we are Axel and Lottie!!!

Axel – I’m an 11 year old German Wirehaired Pointer. I used to run a brace or two at a trial, but I’m retired now and living the dream! I love to chase quail and pheasants. I used to get ducks and geese. Not nowadays – my old bones can’t stand the cold water.

My Dad thinks I’m mouthy because I like to bark and howl. When I’m boarded, the staff thinks I’m their best howler! I’d take a bullet for Dad because I’m loyal to him.

Lottie – I’m a 6 year old Pudelpointer. If you don’t know what a Pudelpointer is, you are not alone. My breed was created from German Wirehair Pointers and Poodles 1881 in Germany. The breed was brought to the US in 1956. I love finding birds, pointing at them, and giving them back to Dad after he shoots them.

I’m the complete opposite of Axel. I rarely bark and have a laid back personality at home. My Mom says my nickname is “La-ti-da”. She is so funny. I’m a diva and would not take a bullet for Dad. Get me in the field or on the water and it is all business.

We both love to work together in the pheasant field. Dad really likes it when we gang up on a bird in a pincer movement. The bird doesn’t know what to do. So he flies! Then he dies!

See ya around!

Hi! I’m Dakota Cicogni,

While people get confused pronouncing my last name, I’m not confused on the job.  I find birds!  When I’m not running trials, hunting, or dreaming of birds, you may find me in the swimming pool.  I love to be loved and dad, Jim, loves that I bring the bird back to hand every time.  I always appreciate a quail hunt but have to be honest, more pheasants please!  And ladies, I like to pump iron.  See you around at the trials.

– Dakota

P.S. There’s a new pup around my house.  Can anyone help me out?

Hi! My name is Warner, and I’m 11 years old. I’m super happy to be part of the Arizona Pointing Dog Club with my dog, Ace. Ace is a one-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, and he’s my very first dog ever. He’s really smart, full of energy, and always ready to go on an adventure. I think he’s the best dog in the world!

Ace and I love spending time outside together. We practice finding and pointing birds, and it’s so awesome to see him work in the field. Sometimes he still gets a little too excited and forgets what he’s supposed to do, but we’re both learning a lot. Every time Ace does something new or listens to me right away, I feel super proud.

This year, I’m really excited for my first wild quail season with Ace! I can’t wait to get out there and see him find and point wild birds for the first time. I think it’s going to be amazing to see all the things we’ve practiced finally come together during our hunts.

One of my favorite things about being in the club is going to the Bird Dog trials. I love seeing all the other dogs work and learning from everyone. It’s also been really fun to camp during the trials, spending time outdoors, playing corn hole, helping with the raffles and hanging out by the campfire. Everyone in the club has been so nice and has
taught me a lot about training and handling bird dogs.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s trial season, because Ace and I will be moving up to the “Shooting Dog” class! I know it’ll be more challenging, but I’m excited to work hard and see how far we can go. Being part of the Arizona Pointing Dog Club has been awesome, and I can’t wait for all the new adventures ahead with Ace!

-Warner

Hi, I’m Poppie Cotton!

Female Brittany extraordinaire.  Thanksgiving will mark my second birthday but don’t let that fool you, I’m out here to win…and look adorable.  With an AKC Senior Hunt Title and a few podium trips under my belt, this is shaping up to be a pretty darn good year.  I prefer to quarter at around 100 to 120 yards but out of the gate, I’m a rocket ready to be launched.  I’m here to please my energetic and loving handler Jimmy Baum and that means steady bird work and retrieves that are lightning fast.  I look forward to many days in the field come October and being a tough out next trial season.  Oh, and if you want to get my undivided attention, scratch my ears or call me POP POP!

With love,

Poppie Cotton
